    Default Old Hickory Frustrated

Looking for some guidance on crappie fishing in and around Nashville. I've lived here for 5 years and up until Nov. I lived in Madison 10 min from the dam. I fished that part of OH a lot in spring and summer. I had 2 springs where I did well finding crappie in some creeks off the main lake, but this year and last year I can't buy a crappie in those same areas. The other two areas I've spent time in are Shutes Branch and Cedar Creek. I really like those two areas better, but just haven't gone as much since I lived so close to the dam. Now that I live up north of Nashville, I'll be driving 30-40 min. no matter what part of the lake I fish. I have a small 1442 Crappie Jon w a 25 Johnson. I can get around quick, but when the wind gets up and boat traffic gets up; I don't feel safe running the main lake.

My next trip, I'm thinking of launching in Drakes Creek or driving over to Cedar Creek. With my boat size and setup; I need some semi-protected areas off the main lake to fish that are deep enough to hold some crappie. I'm a single-pole fisherman exclusively.

Any tips or other areas I should check out? Docks? Laydowns?

I'm tired of going and catching 0 crappie; especially with my kids I'm afraid they will lose interest! If I can't figure out something on OH in the next couple trips, I'm going to check out Percy I guess! I've deer hunted on Percy Priest and the areas I hunted and accessed by boat looked like good crappie spawning habitat!

    Thanks!
no matter what I'm doing, I've got hunting or fishing on my mind...

LOL, don't blame em; its a hard lake to fish from my experience! I've gotten some good direction though and a list of areas to try where I should be somewhat protected from main-lake wind and boat traffic. I'm hoping to have a boat upgrade this year that will open up more of OH and PP to me.
