Default Woods for some social distancing

Wife and I decided to get away Sunday and try to get some fish in the freezer, when we got to Percy Priest (Fate Sanders) there were 8 boats in line and the parking lot was full. We squeaked through the line and went to plan B head for Woods reservoir. We were on the water at 8:15, water temps were in the 63 to 64 range. We long line trolled curly tails and in the first 30 minutes had two nice keepers in the boat throwing back a dozen or so yellow bellies. The yellow bellies continued to bite but couldn't catch a crappie of any size. We pulled up and went down lake, started long lining in 8 fow moving out each pass to 14 fow. With only 2 keepers in the well we made a change. We clipped on crank baits and moved to the 16' to 20' depths pulling at 1.4 - 1.6 mph. In 2 hours we put 7 nice keeper in the boat putting back 10 plus shorts plus quite a few stripe and yellow bellies, they kept us busy. 3 of the 9 we caught were 14" plus, 2 big females and one big male, 5 of the 9 were males, 7 of the largest weighed 10.6 lbs on my hand held scale. Best crank bait colors were pink with black speckles, clown and pink with black stripe on back in the 300 series. Hoping we can get back soon.

    Stay healthy all,

    Ray and Audrey

Good job Ray! I've found those yellow stripe eat pretty good if big enough to filet.

Will have to try those yellows some time, we caught several that were pretty nice sized. I miss fishing with ya'll also, I've been guiding on JJP part time the last couple years so I'm not eligible by the rules to fish the tournaments. Wife and I still get down to Woods and Normandy a couple times a year. We even looked around for some land in that area for a weekend getaway.

Great trip and report. I saw a boat pulling cranks last week, our water temperatures were 66 this morning.

I don't normally pull cranks with waters in the 60's but I remembered MRDux saying he starts pulling cranks as early as possible. We weren't catching crappie long lining so we MR's thought to the test! Thanks Doug for the heads up

    Good show!
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6
