Got a glimpse of Tellico from 411 today, before the sun came out it was down close to winter levels with some shoreline exposed, a bit muddy. On the way back home from Maryville, the sun was out for the most part and it looked like the wife's coffee with lots and lots of creamer in it.
'Bout the only way a crappie would know a bait was there was if it hit him in the face or hooked him in the butt.
GO BIG ORANGE !

Well you’re right about hitting them in the head. Crappie crave to orient themselves to something in the spring. In muddy water they will put their nose right up to a tree or dock post. I’ve caught them in chocolate milk with a float and minnow and the only way they would hit is if the float was touching the dock post. Start at 2ft and work your way down in 6” increments. Caught a lot of nice crappie this way.
