Default Great day on Melton Hill!

After not fishing for around ten years, I was still able to find the fish on the Hill! It’s not an easy lake to fish and the crappie hang out in some inconspicuous places, but spots and techniques I learned years ago still paid off. Kept 16 and these were the smallest except the two bigs we kept early. Three of us caught probably 40-50 fish and only had about 10 shorts. They were still biting when we left! Let the rest of the keepers go that we’re between 13-15 inches.

Good catch, have heard good things about Melton Hill.....if you know where to look. Obviously, there are some nice ones in there.

Most people get frustrated catching the dinks on Melton Hill. The little ones and big ones are almost never in the same spots. I spent years in the 90’s figuring them out.

I have never fished Melton Hill, but it is on my bucket list. Love the report. Crappie fishing like riding a bicycle. You never really forget how to. Grin.

Well, I did have some pretty nice “hook sets” on some structure and tried to crawl my lure over some bites the first hour or so, haha! It did come back to me pretty quick. I also figured out that being in my late 40’s means it’s time to get some hi vis line!
