Default Tough day from the bank on Melton Hill

Hit one of the deep sloughs with no boat access today. Wind was tough and caught zero crappie off three big trees. Fished from 3-15ft deep and not a hit. I just don’t think they’ve moved through the culvert yet. After three hours, I hit the culvert on the lake side and caught a dozen or so yellow perch. Had two close to 12 inches and a bunch around 7-8 inches. All were released. The perch are usually a couple weeks ahead of the crappie, so it’s getting close! Headed down river tomorrow in the boat. Reports of crappie being caught on the lower end. I’ll give a report, but a little worried as water dropped 18” while I was there today. Norris must have closed spill gates.
