Default Good, but chilly morning crappie fishing 1/29/20

My fishing friend, Phil requested a crappie fishing trip and wanted to bring a new friend along. After only catching 4 keepers yesterday and with colder wind temps today and NNE wind, I was hoping that we didn’t get skunked.

But to my pleasant surprise, the fish cooperated with us this morning. We fished from about 8:20 until almost 11 am. Water temp was 47.9 and current was still pretty strong in the river at 59,000 cfs.

Phil and I had plenty of fish but our new friend didn’t have any crappie so we kept fish for him. 12 nice keeper sized crappie went home with Howard Snyder. He said he lived about an hour from me but if he was close, he would fish with me all the time. Lolol.

Phil caught a pretty good eater blue catfish, but we released him. If I had the stitches out of my thumb, I would have kept it for dinner. I love some blue catfish cleaned properly. We also caught a couple of yellow bass.

Bobby Garland Monkey Milk glow with chartreuse tail dipped in spike-it was my lure of choice. Phil caught his fish on Ghastly Minnow baby Shad. We only caught 2-3 short fish this morning.

Redge requested a screen shot of the new hotels so I am including them with this report. Two more hotels going in the water in the morning
