Default Teaching Cameron single pole fishing. 1/10/20

My new friend Cameron aka knox_frog, drove down from his home in Knoxville to go fishing with me in hopes that he could pick up a few pointers on single pole crappie fishing. Most of his prior experience is long line trolling (gasp).

We only had moderate success as the bigger fish stayed away until the last hour of our trip. We did catch many shorts and 4-5 keepers before we stumbled upon an active school of nice keepers. Not giants, but nice eating fish ones 11” and maybe 12”.

In addition to crappie, we hit a school of yellow bass and I managed to catch one of my pet Drums. He thought that he was a good boy, but I returned him to the deep. Grin.

Water temp was 51.2 and over 100,000 cubic feet per second flowing through the reservoir. BPS tiny 2” Shads in chartreuse was a good color today. Parts of the lake had pretty clear water and a lot of it was stained. Not muddy, but a sandy green color.

I always enjoy fishing with new people and Cameron is a great guy and loves to fish.

Great catch, those fish look very healthy and fat. Hopefully Cameron can take what he learned and apply the techniques on Fort Loudon in Knoxville, same river system just a little farther upstream

Thanks much for taking me out, DK. Had a great time! Couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. Sorry for the delay in response. I’ve been a bit tied up and absent from the site. Can’t wait to find another time to get together. Hope your thumb is healing up well.
