I have fished the Float'N Fly for years. If you do it right....and I did not always do it right.....you need to use a weighted float for the size jig you are using. I never used a slip float. I use a 9 foot rod and can fish it to about 15 feet deep. The reason for the weighted float is the fish takes it and moves up the float will tilt to the side and you can see you have a fish.

Yes the floats we used were different.
They were customized balanced clip on pear shaped bobbers.
Weighted on top and on the bottom. When the jig is down the bobber stood straight up.
If a fish lifted on the jig at all the bobber it would lay over on its side.
Makes some bites more detectible that you would otherwise miss.
    Thanks for the question.

I’ve never used any fly......most who do this use some sort of jig. I’ve used feather jigs and a Trout Magnet body on a jig head.

These floats were actually made. The wire had to be bent straight on the clip end to get it apart. The weight was taken off the bottom of an extra weighted float then added to the top. Push the wire back through and with a very small pair of needle nose pliers bend the J back into the wire on the clip end. If the weighs are too thick you may have to get a longer wire.
