Default Hiwassee 9/11/19 "A 4 hour tour". And a couple days late.

We had a late start this morning but it all came out in the wash. Gilligan and I went up to the Hiwassee for a change of scenery, I have only been up there on one other occasion. We found a few willing to entertain us for a minute or two. Then I was out of clues, so I just looked over my mapping and turned on the side scan. A few minutes scanning in an creek channel off the main river channel found some interesting looking targets. Stopped and caught a few more. After that bite was over, about 10:30 and getting hotter by the second, we headed back toward the boat ramp. Stopping again at our first spot of the morning, aka "milk run", after several no bite casts, I landed another keeper fish. "OK, one more cast", as DK always says. BAM! She was on... Drag screaming on my new Okuma SST ultra lite with #4 test SufIx Elite. I thought to myself, self, you knew that you couldn't go one trip without catching one of those green carp! Man was I surprised... I scooped her up in the net, a nice White crappie, I thought dang that's a big un'. Laid her on the golden rule, 14.75". Wow my second TARP of the year! Earlier this spring I caught my first TARP, a Black Crappie at 14". Wasn't the most action packed day but a good day fishing. Oh, water temp was about 83, several colors worked. The TARP came on a BG Minnow Mind'R Monkey Milk 1/24 oz head. Fish seem to be holding in 12' - 15' FOW up there.

Slab, I just bought my AL. annual license, I see a trip to Weiss in my near future. Could be our opportunity to go.

Good report and great catch, especially in this heat. That TARP looks very healthy!
