Default Testing a trolling motor, and a fishing trip broke out!

I was fortunate enough to get a new Terrova two weeks ago, and was so excited that I started installing it within thirty minutes of receipt! A quick commercial break: I highly recommend Brian @ BBG Marine. He was patient and thorough as we discussed what motor would best suit my needs. He then quoted a price that includes shipping, and it was lower than anyone else. I ordered on a Thursday morning, and it was delivered Saturday around noon. Does it get any better? Yes, no sales tax!! Anyway, I installed it two weeks ago Saturday, and couldn’t wait to try it out! Sunday morning, my Mom was taken to the Emergency Room, admitted, and had a portion of her colon removed. This landed her in ICU, and it was touch and go for several days. This 84 year old lady was kept on a Ventilator and heavily sedated for several days. Fast forward to Tuesday. She came off the Ventilator, is improving, and is to be moved out of ICU today! Yes, I believe in the power of prayer.
Yesterday evening, about 6:30, I finally found my window to calibrate my new Terrova, so a quick hookup, and off we go. I chose a cove, that just happens to have a great brushpile, and proceeded to perform the calibrations. It didn’t take long, so might as well test it for real. I moved to the brush, hit Spot Lock, and started slinging a Brushpile Stump Bug in white and chartreuse. The water temp was 83, and I locked it in 21 FOW. Three willing participants were introduced to the inside of my livewell over the next few minutes. Since time was very limited, I decided to make a run to one more brushpile on the main channel for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I can usually find a few fish on this pile. Secondly, it put me near the jet skis, glitter boats, wake boats, ocean liners, and submarines! What better place to test that Spot Lock? Changed to a CB Slider, Junebug/Chartreuse, and my wife and I scored our first double for June! A little tidbit that I’ll throw in. My Slider was pretty messed up, so I pinched off the top 3/4 inch, and put it back on. I immediately hooked up with something that grabbed it, tested my drag, and wrapped up me up in the brush....never to be heard from again. Oh, and the Terrova handled the ocean like wake like a champ! We invited the lucky seven home for dinner, and got back to the truck right at dusk. I love it when a plan comes together! I don’t have a clue when we will be able to get back on the water, but Thursday was a true blessing!

I love this report. I would not be very successful if not for my Terrova and the spot lock feature. The stronger the current or wind, the better she holds her position. Looking for more reports from you as the health of your Mom improves.

I pray your mother continues to improve. I too recently got a Terrova from Brian. He was great to deal with on every level. It truly has helped make fishing more productive, and relaxing. Tuesday I locked over a brush pile in 24fow, and caught seven from 10-15 ft on BG bluegrass, 1/32 chartreuse jig. For someone who has a blue parking permit (that I rarely use), it (the Terrova) makes fishing possible on less than perfect days. No longer will you be struggling to control the boat while netting your wife's fish!!!

I have been thinking about a trolling motor upgrade as well. Spot Lock sounds nice. I stand and fish from the front deck, do not sit at all, but have to hold boat position with the foot pedal. You have my mind wheels turning now. Oh yea, good catch and report. Keep it up, do not let those Crappie get complacent, they need weekly Summer harassment!!

I should sell my terrova and get a newer improved model.
This report reminded me of the notion.
