Default Nice crappie and bass trip 6/23/19

I thought that Dr Phil was in Illinois this weekend with family, so I didn’t have any plans to fish this morning. But he called me last night and asked if I had plans for this morning and I said no. Then he told me that they didn’t go up there this weekend and he was free to go.

So, at 6 am we met at the Wolftever creek ramp and ran out to the main river to fish on vertical structure and we had a good day. When I got us in position to fish with Crazy Ivan on spot lock, he got a phone message, so I caught 3 good keeper crappie while he was on the phone. Lol.

He put up his phone and then proceeded to catch a 4 lb 5 oz trashy green fish that went home with me for our family fish fry later on this afternoon. I had to re-train him and remind him that we were fishing for crappie. But he caught another bass and then I had one too.

Then we got the crappie fired up. We ended up with 17 keepers but only took home 14. We left some for seed. I caught 2 small slimy channel catfish and all they are good for is to tear up my Litewire hooks and BG Minnow Mind’Rs. Not all of our fish came off vertical structure. We hit an offshore spot just off the main river channel and caught a few more fish.

Then at 8:30, we decided to head home with just a stop to check out one of our latest crappie bamboo hotels. Not many fish gathered up on this spot that is at least 300 yards offshore from one direction and about a quarter mile from the opposite shoreline. But it should be loaded during the hottest time of the summer. I’ll keep checking on it.

Nice catch, a good bass for light tackle. I am a fan of the light wire hooks also, a necessity when snatching them out of their brushy haunts.

Thank's for keeping me up to date DK, I've had to work some overtime lately... Good Job!
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6
