    Default Big Crappie morning 5/29/19

Days like today is what makes fishing a sport that is second to none. After a morning of only catching little keepers yesterday for my friend, Biofisher, today while fishing with Mr S, the big girls decided to play. We landed 17 total crappie and one Bluegill. All fish released today.

We fished deep structure and delta cuts with Bobby Garland plastics, mostly 2” Baby Shads. The only color that worked for me was Blue Ice on a 1/16 oz jig head. Mr S. caught fish on a new color called Mayfly and he changed colors a lot experimenting.

The fish were deep and water temp early was 81 degrees. It is creeping up each day and that is a bummer. We shouldn’t see temps like this in May, but what you gonna do? Fire the weatherman? They get paid for being wrong 90% of the time. TVA was running 13,000+ the entire time we fished (daylight until 10:30), but there was an increase to 19,000 at 11. Actually the increase began at ten but isn’t reported until the next hour.

Today, since we weren’t keeping fish, when we hooked a big one deep, we let it fight slowly to the surface so it could equalize it’s bladder pressure. A couple of the big ones came from 30 feet and I had to hold them by the tail, head down, in the water until they recovered enough to zoom on back down. I have lost my fizzing needles and am going this afternoon to find some more.

Good catch and look at that calm water. We have 18-20mph winds here now, and I am planning to go this afternoon. Oh well. hopefully I will do as well as you guys did.

That was a fun trip DK, Thanks again for your help last week. I really appreciate it.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6
