    Default Spyder rigging

I am new at crappie fishing and learning a lot from you guys reading lots of your post, but i have a question about spider rigging. I had a couple of guys tell me spider rigging on Old Hickory was not the way to fish it, and I don't dought thats the case but I don't understand why that is the case. What makes a lake a spider rigging water on not? I am trying to setup my boat for just that type of fishing and hoping to fish Old Hickory tomorrow if nothiing happens like high wind. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have never fished Old Hickory but my brother lives in Mt Juliet and I have seen the lake on several occasions. I think it is a Cumberland River impoundment. I would try Spider Rigging in one of the large creek areas of the lake, off the main channel. I would start in 15-20ft water and run my baits 10-12ft to start with, minnows probably on a couple rods with the Capps and Coleman rigs and maybe a couple rods with jigs. Check out the beginners forum for some great diagrams of the rigs commonly used to Spider rig. The fish should be spawning right now so you may have to go shallow or even single pole until they finish up their Spring duties. Good luck, if the lake is not super clear you should be able to Spider rig and catch fish.
