Default Chickamauga crappie with CUonthelake 3/10/19

Dr Phil called in sick about 30 minutes before launch time, but Candi was dandy and in need of a fishing fix really bad. So it was off to the lake we went with our Stump Bugs in tow. Actually she fished with Bobby Garlands most of the morning.

I gave her a Paradise Bug but she hung it up and broke off early and although I tried and tried to get her to take another one, she refused to take one. So it was BG Slab Slayers for her. She had a few bites but a lot of hard luck with a new reel and line and the fish kept getting off. I tried to give her a Litewire hook, but she wouldn’t take it. Grin

One thing that I noticed is as we are on the backside of the new moon phase, the fishing is tapering off. Not as many bites today, but I did wind up with 6 keepers to take home and several short fish. I also caught one of my pet Drums. He was about 3 lbs. quick release at the boat thank goodness.

And Candi lost a good fish on an offshore spot and I think it was a good bass. She had a couple of good crappie come unbuttoned as well. It was just one of those days for her. The teacher took the student to school today. Smile.

River current is brutal right now and fishing along the main river channel is not feasible for the techniques that I prefer to use. We probably could go into the bays and do the dreaded trolling thing and pick up some fish, but where is the fun in that? Lolol.

Water temp this am was 50 degrees and 51.7 when we finished. The monsoon rain last night is pouring more very muddy water into the lake from the creeks now. Water is brown everywhere.

Goodness gracious do you feed them Golf Balls down there? Least they look healthy, probably put a bend in the rod also. More rain up here and still sending water that way, when will it end.
