Hmmm! Very interesting and confusing! Maybe somebody has an answer.
Anyone know exactly what the highlighted notice means for the dams mentioned. What would cause them to close the ramps...roads...below named dams until April?

sounds like they don't want people tearing up these roads with 4 wheel drives and all terrain vehicles. Don't believe they are referring to main roads which are paved
4 wheeler tracks are along the shoreline here. Happens every winter at "low tide" aka winter pool. It is illegal and people can loose property if caught.

Thanks for the reply’s. They have changed the wording of the notice and it is now clear what the intent is.

TVA is open for business as usual.....not part of the shutdown....and they’re getting their paychecks. It is a federally owned corporation but TVA receives no federal appropriations and is a totally self-financed.

When I asked this question the wording was just access roads were closed for the dams named. After football posted his reply it made sense...so I went back to the TVA full site and the wording had changed to what football had mentioned.....here is what it was changed to say “Some access roads at Boone, Cherokee, Chickamauga, Douglas, Hiwassee, Kentucky, Norris, Pickwick, Watts Bar and Wheeler dams are closed to vehicle traffic until April in order to limit damage to the land during low water. Foot traffic is allowed at all times.”
