Default It was a Black Friday for the crappie.

There I was, sitting in the fog around 9 am, all alone at first, but Cuonthelake finally made it about 45-60 minutes later. She hurried up when I sent her pics of a 14.25” tarp Black crappie that I had just caught and released. I was there on a mission to find some good fishy deals while a lot of folks were fighting over TVs, toys, guns, clothes, etc. You get the picture.

It was foggy early and chilly. Thankfully the wind wasn’t blowing. But in three hours of fishing this morning, two with Candi, we managed to fill my live well with a limit of really nice chunky crappie. There were several boats fishing in the area. I saw two guys that were in a bass tournament land about 4 bass in 15 minutes. They were throwing the rig for the bass. Grin. Oops, I let out a little secret there. Grin.

Surface temp was 53.6 degrees and it was cloudy after the fog lifted. The fish were 20’ deep and scattered. I think what they were doing was following huge schools of threadfin shad around and would just happen to be in our strike zone from time to time. I snagged a threadfin that was about 4-5” long. Perfect for fishing for bass.

I was catching big crappie on Bobby Garland Minnow Minders in Pennyback color before Candi arrived. She put on a Lights Out Slab Slayer and proceeded to catch 3 fish in a row and she will have to admit that they weren’t really big crappie. Grin.

i changed colors too and we both doubled at times, and some were the nice sized Slabs. Candi also caught a LM bass around 14”. When we finished my limit with Candi getting a little cold and talking about going home and starting a fire in her fireplace, I took the hint and we yielded our spot to a boat from Georgia that were watching us like a hawk. We gave them some lures, and told them how to catch th fish. Then put the boat back on the trailer at noon. Great morning. Several pics..

Good report and great size on those speckled bellies. The wind was tough here today, started blowing early and was definitely chilly. I have a nice fire also, know how Miss Candi feels.
