    Default Solo today. 11/19/18

It feels like it has been a month since I last fished, but it was the last day of October. Dr Phillip was in the woods trying to kill Bambi and Candi was buying groceries, a girl has to eat, so I did a solo trip this am.

I launched the Tracker around 9:30 give or take a few minutes. I eased out to the edge of the Wolftever creek channel and noticed a lot of bait in the channel near the edges and I was marking a lot of fish deep.

With the color of the water being a greenish sandy brown because of the recent hard rains, I chose a Pennyback colored Bobby Garland Slab Slayer in 1/16 oz Litewire hook painted Chartreuse, and never had to change colors or lures all day.

I caught 12 keeper Black crappie in about an hour or so and decided to check out some different structures. So I left biting fish to go look for fish. I do that a lot. Grin. I checked a deep off shore hump, a deep pond, a bluff, and two bamboo crappie hotels. Only two short fish came off the bluff. I marked fish on the other structures but no takers.

So I came back to the creek channel after a couple of hours and finished my limit and quit fishing at 1:45 pm. The fish are on ice and will be cleaned in the morning. Fish were 11:25-13.5”.

The technique that I used to coax these fish into biting was a very slow roll retrieve with an occasional “palsy” twitch. I cast my lure out and used the countdown method to determine what depth the fish would bite. Most came on a 17-20 second drop. Most fish that I was marking were at 20’ deep. I used a braided line and the fish were taking the lure deep in their throat.

I want to give a shout-out to B&M Sharpshooter rods, Slab Sauce, and Curtis Hobbs litewire hooks. Great tools to work with.

This is what a real fishing report looks like. No brag, full of info others can use, honest and unselfish. DK, this is why you are so respected. Thanks

Nice catch and great report. Those fish look like they are fattening up for the winter.
