Hope you stopped by and got you some apples
I didn’t fish last week as Wanda and I, along with Wanda’s sister and brother in law, took a little 3 day trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wanda and I have made several trips to the parkway before and traveled the entire 400 plus miles of it, but Joan and Leon had never been on the parkway.
We started off by picking them up near Crossville and driving to the Burgar Bar in Bristol, Va for a burger and milkshake. This little joint was opened in 1942, the same year that I was born, and was the last place that Hank Williams ate before he died.
Over the mountain to Boone, NC where we picked up the BRP and traveled down to Little Switzerland and stayed over night in the Balsam cottage. After breakfast the next morning, we must have stopped at nearly all overlooks and had a picnic lunch at Mt Mitchell State Park. On to Maggie Valley to overnight before heading back home. Enough of this. Grin
Crappie report: I fished solo today, launching at 9:30. Water temp was 68 when I started and 69 when I finished at 3 pm. I ran several miles on the boat today, looking, fishing a little and running some more. Biggest fish was almost 13” and I kept 5 for dinner along with the single spotted bass that had the poor decision to try to steal my Bobby Garland plastics
It was a slow day for me as I tried docks, bluffs, off shore structure and deep brush. I caught several smaller fish as they have seemed to be the dominate class right at this present time. It will get better and we certainly should have some great fishing next year as well. Hope the little vacation trip didn’t bore you. I’ll try to do better.
Thanks for sharing DK

Great catch, we had our first frost up here in E TN this morning. Heard rumblings of fish being caught in good numbers up here, just been in woods too much lately to verify. We love the BRP as well, travel it frequently when visiting our daughter in VA. A neat place to stay up that way is Grassy Creek Cabooses in Orchard Gap VA. It is near Fancy Gap at mile marker 193 on the parkway. They have converted a couple old cabooses to unique cottages for nightly rentals.
Keep up the pics and reports.

DK this report brings back many memories. When I was a lad, I remember Mom and Step Dad, Pawpaw, Granny. Loading up the Buick Electra 225 and a iron skillet, heading up the mountains. We would leave out early way before my brother and I were fully awake. I remember the road side pick nick areas were we would stop, build a camp fire on side of the road with the morning fog still burning off the mountain. I remember the smell of bacon, eggs and coffee percolating in the ol coffee pot sitting on the fire. Cherokee and Gatlinburg has changed so very much over the years. I miss the old towns.
Thanks for the report, this is my last week of night shift, vacation starting the 29th-5th hopefully we can catch up. Start day shift the 5th of Nov.
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.

I used to live about 20 minutes from Mt. Mitchell. Glad you had a good trip and got back on the lake.
