Started like this an just got better as the morning progressed. Once the sun made an attempt to peek through the clouds the crappie bite turned on. I covered a lot of water, temperatures at surface was consistently at 78 degrees. Lots of traffic on the water, all community spots had a boat on them....I’m thinking, mmmmmm, where am I gonna find them.
That is when you can really put your thinking cap on an start searching. If they are moving, then so was I.
I scanned a drop, my heart pumping fast as it looked like Christmas in October, I quickly threw my marker turned off the big motor, an put the Terrova to work...I love that TM! Once I spot locked an made my first cast, thump, a quick reel, dink, keeper, but a squick above 10”.

Am I spoiled or what? Next cast, same thing, repeat, repeat. Now I was fishing the shallow end of the drop. So I thought maybe some of those Bigger Slabs might be holding deeper. So off with the spot lock, rabbit to other side as not to disturb them. I’m gonn sneak up on this dude of them. I toss a 1/16 jig head dressed in lights out BG slab slayr’ #2 RS hook with of course, Slab Sauce, An “shore nuff”

A speckled beauty is on my golden ruler!
Next I made a run to one of my favorite fall docks, woooohooo, no one was fishing it, An the fresh spider webs was my clue that maybe no one had been there all morning. I picked up 11 keepers here. No giants, but no dink’s!

Headed back home, which means Downs...blow Downs in the creek. That’s when I change it up to weedless fishing 1/16 round head jigs with a BG baby shad ghastly minnow. It was slim pickings for keepers, still a little warm n creek for the big daddies, but it won’t be much longer cause the bait fish as moving in.

How about giving your old mentor a lesson every now and then. Lolol. I keep telling everyone that you are the best student that I ever taught how to crappie fish with s jig. I’m very proud of your accomplishments. I have worked with others for weeks before they learned what you got almost right away. Your Dad did a good job with you at an early age.

Good catch and report. All our water is disappearing fast, down 20 vertical feet now. I like that Golden Rule shot, look at that nice clean carpet
