Default Crappie with Tim “Jam” Smith aka Sailfish. 100518

I picked up a new fishing buddy after he said that he got kicked out of another *♀️. Lolol. Just kidding. Tim and I had been intending to fish with each other for a long time and today it finally happened.

We hit many spots today and most were new spots to Tim. We had a ton of fun and caught around 18 keepers but they were between 10 and 10.5” and a lone 12” black crappie. All fished released to get to TARP sized in another year or so.

I fished with both Bobby Garland and BPS jigs. I liked the Fire Shad and Crystal by BPS. Bobby Garland colors were Lights Out and Blue Thunder. Tim fished mainly with BG jigs I think. We only took a pic of our first fish.

Brush, stumps, and drop offs were the main structures that we fished. Come down and fish with me again, Tim. Athens isn’t that far to drive.

Glad to see you are still on them. My spots are dry to almost dry, literally. Funny when rabbits become the new residents of the Crappie brushpiles.

Thanks for the report and pictures. Do you remember what the water temp. was? I hope it is beginning to cool down.

Bob, the water temp has been going up, not down for the past several days. All the rain a few days ago lowered the temp and the fish turned on, but they are slowing down again now.

I thought about you Thursday evening when I came down I-75 on my way to Atlanta. One of these days, when I'm not in a hurry, I'm gonna look you up and have you teach me how to catch crappie Tennessee style.

Give me a few days notice before you come down and I will be glad to take you crappie fishing.

The problem with Tim Jam is that he talks trolling too much. I had a little compassion on him and thought that I could rescue him from the boring task of letting the boat do all the fish catching. Lolol His fishing partner has had too big an influence on him. He may be a hopeless case. Lolol
