    Default Kingsport Area

Just wondering what the crappie fishing is like in the Kingsport area. I have a friend trying to talk me into coming to see him this Fall...Thanks in advance.

    Default Kingsport Area

Unfortunately, the lake closest to Kingsport, Boone Lake, is drawn down about 10ft below winter pool and is very shallow and hazardous to navigate. Here is a link to the full story, TVA - Boone Dam Project
Basically seepage around the dam. There is a link on that site to a current newsletter updating the progress of repairs which are not expected to be completed for another 4 years. I lived in Kingsport for a couple years after college and caught some nice Crappie there in the springtime. My advice would be to take boat down Highway 11W to Cherokee Lake, about a 45 minute drive. Our fall fishing is good, and at times can be great!!

There are a few crappie at Patrick Henry... keep in mind I am bank fishing so I am sure there are more than I think... also I would suggest South Holston Lake or as Stan suggested Cherokee (I have never fished it but I have seen Stans pics)... also further down you could be at Douglas Lake...

I appreciate the info!! I'll be checking them out before I head up there in Oct...If you are ever down in the GA/FL area, holler if you need anything.

Both Douglas and Cherokee lakes are the ones you wanna hit. In general, Douglas is the place for numbers and Cherokee for size. The upper end of Cherokee is only about 45 mins from you and Douglas about an hour.
