    Talking Normandy at night

Marissa and I fished the Normandy Tournament with the Middle Tennessee crappie club. It started out as a pretty windy night. It was an earlier start then normal. We started at 5pm. Partly cloudy and winds gusting to over 20. White caps on the main lake. Water temp around 85. I played it on the cautious side of things with my youngest grand daughter in the boat. Stayed out of the wind for the most part early. Problem with that was the fish were not cooperating in the areas we fished. Tried 4 good spots that I have caught good fish on this time of year with only 1 9,75 long fish to show. Started to get dark and the wind had calmed down so headed to the night spot to set up for the night. Seen one of the other guys and stopped and talked to him on the way but he only had 1 fish. Not encouraging. Went to our spot and through out the anchor. It was about 8:30. I caught a good 13 incher right after setting out the lights. Things got pretty slow after that. Marissa kept it interesting telling stories about her sisters and talking and talking and talking. It was all good. Her normal bed time is around 9:30 so come about 10:00 she was getting a little tired when her float went under and she pulled up an 11.5. She got back into the grove again. Well the talking went on for another 15 min and then things got quite again and I caught another good crappie 3 in the well. And things got quite again. I decided it was my time to talk Pointed out that the big dipper was there and the little dipper was there. She didn't Know those. Then she talked about Aliens. There is no such thing she said. Mars is to far for us to go to she said. There are so many stars we cant count them all she said. I guess I woke her up. Caught one more crappie just before we had to go to weigh in at Midnight. So we had four and felt good that maybe we wouldn't come in last place this time since there were 13 or 14 boats in the tournament. Well we came in 5th. She was tickeled about that. All in all one of my best nights I can remember even though we didn't catch a lot I will have great memories with my 11 year old grand daughter. Doughnuts and drinks from the gas station rounded out the night She wouldn't let me take a picture. Check out the middle Tennessee crappie club forum for results. Good fishing everyone.

Good trip no matter how you placed. Fishing is supposed to be fun and I think you two accomplished just that.
