Those are some nice size crank bait fish. Looks like a couple Black Crappie mixed in! They all have to eat, even in the heat!

The wife and I got up early after the 4th of July festivities and headed out to Percy Priest to give the crappie a try. We launched about 5:20 AM. We started out just doing some casting around a point in about 20 FOW due to all of the surface activity. After about 20 minutes with no results, we started trolling with 4 crank baits and 2 jigs off of planer boards. The water temp was around 87 to 88 degrees on the surface and we could see both bass and catfish busting shad on the surface. We caught 2 nice crappie on the first pass and then it slowed down a little. Then the crappie feeding frenzy got started and we caught 4 or 5 more pretty quickly. The crappie really liked a Bomber crank bait in a crawfish pattern, as evidenced by the picture below where a particular crappie practically inhaled the lure. We ended the morning early about 9:30 due to the heat and ended up with 13 nice crappie and a bonus channel catfish.

I need the name of that "LUCKY" blue toenail polish. She is kill'em. The fish don't have a chance.
Took your info and started about 6 am. Pulled 4 crank baits, that's the only way we know how. kept 12 crappies no short crappies tossed back 4 catfish and a bunch of yellar bellies. left for home at 10am. We had some good size fish 4 over 13" 2 of those beat 14 thought they were going to be 15 but came up short. I need some planer board lessons. I can't see me NOT making a big big mess with them. Thanks for your report

Good mess of fish.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
Good report. Thanks for sharing.
