Default Crappie, White bass, LM Bass, Spotted Bass Bluegill 6/12/2018

My good friend, Pat, took me fishing this morning. We had a really good morning to fish. We hit it at daylight and quit fishing by 9:30 when it began to warm up a lot. I had a great time. We caught crappie early and I took home 17. Pat's limit and two of my fish. Grin. We had the first limit in about 30 minutes of fishing. We were using 1/16 oz Bobby Garland jigs Baby Shads and the fish were about 8 feet and deeper.

After we picked off the good keepers, and began catching short crappie on nearly every cast, we decided to move down a ways on the structure that we were fishing and picked up a couple more big crappie. Then we got into the White Bass and Largemouth and Spots. We didn't keep up with the number of White bass, but there were several and 4 Largemouth Bass, 2 Spots, and 1 big Bluegill which we donated to my fishing hero, Richard Simms of Scenic City Fishing Charters. He was near us with about 3 of his morning catfish clients, so we gave him a good catfish bait. BTW, we saw them catch a few nice Bluecats while we were fishing for Whites and Crappie.

TVA was running about 46,000 CFS and the water was pretty clear where we were fishing. We saw a commercial fisherman running his nets about 200-300 yards away. After he finished his run, we began to see little bass floating down the current past our boat. I don't know how many that he killed, but there were several. It is a shame that so many bass are killed in gill nets. All the fish that we saw were about 10 inches long. Too bad.

My good friend, Mike Johnston poured me some transparent plastic jigs with red/blue flake in them and they really look great. Thanks, Mike. I'll bet these will catch a bunch of crappie.
