for a Hummingbird 1159 and 999 for sale along with a handheld Garmin 78S gps. Hummingbird units also have Lakemaster map cards in them with covers on the units. All were in a gray laptop bag in my boat. Boat was stored in the Camden/Eva Tn. area. Last time I was at my boat was 1st week of December. I have serial numbers. This has also been reported to the Benton County sheriff's dept. I discovered these items missing yesterday afternoon. PM me or 731 618 9965, thanks

So I’ve been thinking about this lately.....if my units are stolen, can’t they be located if they’re ever turned on? Seems like a real easy thing for the manufacturer to program. You should be able to report them stolen to hummingbird as stolen, then they could assign that device to set off an alarm internally, when it registers a signal. Every unit already has a unique device ID. Anybody know of such a feature?

I bet they would if it were presented as an “anti-theft” protection item the end user could pay for. They could either report coordinates to Game wardens or permanently disable the device. I’ll reach out to Humminbird to see what they say.

First of all, sorry for your loss. This thief has two worthless items without power/transducer cables. They prolly thought they were getting a laptop. They could order the cables, but chances are, they were looking for some quick money, and my guess is they were not even fishermen. When they saw what they had, they prolly threw it in the trash. Hoping the best for you.

Another thing Hummingbird could do is to keep records of reported stolen units. If one was to come in to be repaired, the serial numbers would be an easy match.

Probably too late at this point, but eBay has a bunch of "untested head unit" only fish finders constantly listed.
