Heavy rain expected in the next few days. This shouldn't affect the river level too much, but it will most likely cause the feeder creeks to rise and be very muddy. In my experience the creek mouths and last mile or less before they empty into the river is where the major of crappie are caught. Depending on Tva generation schedule, the river itself can be fairly swift and a little tricky to fish. I have caught good numbers and some quality fish in the Clifton area but primarily in winter/early spring. Majority of the river bank is sandy shallow areas or deeper rock bluffs. There are areas with some large trees that were washed in during floods, however the current can make it difficult to fish them properly. If you are looking for a new area to fish I would suggest going downstream 30 to 40 miles and try the creeks around the area where the highway crosses the river. Several good creeks fairly close to one another, however this might not be the best wkend to try due to the rain and holiday.
