    Default Passing through early March

    Traveling
from Michigan to Louisiana late feb- early March pulling our own boat and have thought about hitting a few lakes on the return trip. Always wanted to fish Reelsfoot but would settle for smaller lesser known bodies of water in that general area. Have plenty of fillets in the freezer so will be catch and release mainly. Crappie and bluegill is what we would be targeting. Any advise? Thanks, Jeff and Jerry from Michigan

Reelfoot is coming back strong after a long slump. Late Feb. early March is too early for spawn but crappie should still be in deeper water in lower blue basin. Beware of windy days and keep boat speed slow. Enjoy your trip.
Just get up and "gofishin". The fish are waiting!

Thanks for the info. Reelsfoot will stay on the short list but we will research other bodies of water as well. We're open to just about anything and would like to find some smaller lakes that would be easier to figure out in one day as we will be lake hopping on the way back to Michigan. Looking between I-55 and I-65 north of I-40 Tennessee, Kentucky maybe Arkansas, Missouri or Illinois. Impoundments, natural lakes, bayous, oxbows, we'll try anything. All part of our quest to fish every body of water in America. Hey, a guy can dream can't he?

Late Feb-early March will be too early for gills or redears on KY or Barkley Lakes but some big crappie will be found then if the weather cooperates.
