    Default Clark Hill Report 5/17/22

Got to the ramp and unloaded at 6 AM sharp. Didnt want to loose any daylight knowing it would get hot today. Got lines in the water and was trolling before 6:30AM. Water was slick as glass and the only boat I saw all morning was one bass boat that went by me while fishing and came back by me an hour later. Other than that I had the whole lake to myself.

Alot of discussion has been about grass shrimp so I took a few pictures of the shells floating on the water. This part of the lake must have millions of them critters as the shells are very obvious. The grass shrimp jigs that Burdawg ties was killer again today along with curly tail grubs in green and brown colors. Fellas, this aint pollen you see on the water....

Fishing was fast and HOT all of the morning I was there. There were times I'd have two fish on one line (fished double jig rigs) and several times 3 poles were bending at once. Cant even remember all the double rods with fish on them at once. And quite naturally when longlining and using double jigs per line there's double the amount of tangles. That's all part of longlining though I suppose.

Caught alot of small dinks trying to catch better ones. Tops for today were these two, a 15 & 1/2" and a 16" fish...

In the livewell I had 12 fish that were 12" or better...

...and I finished my limit of 30 crappie with 18 fish between 10" and 11" that became victims of the Rocket fish cleaning basket. Heads cut off they became scaled fish on-the-bone which are my favorites.

I didnt think to check the water temps before the sun got up but an hour or so later the graph said 77* and some change. All I know is the water is heating up fast and so is the temperatures so it aint gonna be much longer before I'll give my boat a rest for the summer. I fished from @ 6:25AM until 10:15 and began rolling lines up. Total catch was..

....81 crappie caught with a limit of 30 going home. Until next time everybody.....TIGHT LINES!!
