    Default Brrrr,Ice in the Guides.

Got an early start and got to the landing at daylight. Ive got a folding mount for my Chartplotter. It was froze and couldn’t get it to stand up. 20 minutes finally got the pin to release. I thought, man it’s gonna be a bad day. Got started and the guides were freezing up. Abandoned my braid and went with Mono and rod with bigger guides. Finally started catching a few. About 9:00 the guides quit freezing and got on some better fish. Had a really good day. Caught some small fish and no really big ones, but got a limit of 20 over 10 inches and had a few 12 1/2 inch fish. Good way to start the new year. The lake level has came up several feet and is light stained but didn’t seem to hurt the bite. Name: IMG_0653.jpg

I used to spray the guides with liquid car spray wax, seemed to help some. Think I tried pam and it was better then nothing.

WAY too cold for me! Ha! Congrats on the catch. IMO you earned them today. A friend went where I had been fishing and he told me today it was high and muddy. Trashy too where I fished. He had to work farther out the creek and then he was in deeper water and the fish were even scattered more. He's brand new to longlining so he did pretty good IMO. I'm trying to help him as much as I can to learn this way of fishing so he and his three boys can catch fish. I think he told me they caught 19 but only had two slabs. If numbers are correct I think he told me his friend took home 16 planning on scaling the smaller ones. He also told me the water temp was 56* this morning so it hadnt dropped much since the last time I fished when it was 59*.

Now you are fishing like I like to fish. Hate that I'm missing out on some of the best time to fish, hope to get out there soon, so save me a few with shoulders on them. Glad they bit for you even with the ice conditions you had.
