    Default Wateree 12-4

Me, Raccoon, and his friend Juebin, went on Wateree today to fish for stripers. Started off at 8:30. Bumped into P-chop out there. Trolled planers, flatlines, and down lines with no luck. Managed to kick the skunk off with small minnows I brought along and scored a dozen small slimers. Nice day to be out.
Oh I could wrestle a monster fish

I was also on wateree with the little lady today. Never seen so much bait. The lake was loaded today and seemed like the white bass was everywhere. Ended up catching 11 stripers and kept 7 over 21". Easily caught 20 or more white bass but threw all of them back. All and all it was a good day. Lots of boats on the water. I generally fish during the week and usually don't see anywhere near as many boats. Also noticed the new boat ramp was open at Molly creek. Should be good when they draw they lake down low.

Hey Tev8514, Bet those white bass were actually white perch. we ran into our share also.

We marked lots of bait and lots of non feeding fish. Like Whisker Whipper said, lots of blue cats under those shad balls.
it was a great day to be out and lots of other fishermen were out there too!
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.

No sir. Although I haven't caught many white bass, I've caught many many many white perch. These were definitely not white perch. But, white perch or white bass it doesn't matter. Sounds like we all enjoyed a great day on the water.

Wateree white bass has made a resurgence the last couple years. They schooled all summer long nearly every evening. Mostly about a pound but some are 2 pound range. Probably 3 to 1 white bass to perch ratio. Fun on light tackle.

That is great new!! I remember in the 90's when we could catch white bass till you got tired of reeling. number 5 shallow blue and white shadrap for the day, and an ice fly and popping cork for the late day schooling fish.

Great to hear they have made a come back!! Thanks for the info.
