    Default Fishing Report for 9/28

After reading all the posts about fishing it got me pumped up enough to give it a whirl this morning. Pleasantly surprised with the outcome I just wanted to share the results here with you guys.

Water temp before sunup was 75.1* and no wind blowing. Temp was 56* on my truck right before pulling into ramp. Lake was slick and there was only a couple other boats moving around on the part of the lake I was on.

Fished from @ 7:30-11AM this morning and caught a total of 52 fish, including the small catfish and two perch. Everything else were crappie coming from longlining. I was pulling curly tail jigs deep in water 18'-20' deep and was marking bait balls as high up as 10' deep in the water column and most all of the fish marked were 15' to the bottom. And....they were scattered out on the flats and NOT holding to structure. When the sun got up high and the temps neared 80* I think all of the fish took lockjaw and settled back down on the bottom.

I left my phone in the truck and didnt get a picture other than the livewell shot at home. All in all, I considered this a great day of fishing. Lots of smalls but it sure felt good being on there water again. Last I fished was back in June. And it broke up the pace of deer hunting some. Here's the livewell shot...

Glad you got out and caught some quality fish butch. I got my boat out yesterday and ran it to check it out. Everything worked like it should and I am ready to wet a line. First time it has been cranked since May. Thinking about trying the sc little river one day soon.

Nice catch Butch, the fall bite will be heating up and the deer are moving. Hard to decide which one to do by many. Congrats on the catch

Could be like my trip last weekend. Few scattered fish on the troll, and once the sun came up, I found the school and hammered them pitching jigs in the heat of the day and sun full bore. They were tightly balled up but they were there and hungry. Never would've caught them trolling.

Nice looking bunch of fish and Im sure fun was had.
