    Default Sparkleberry

Going to try something I have never done tomorrow. Always wanted to fish the swamp at santee so tomorrow we are going to see if we can get lost or hung up on a stump I guess. I think I am going to put in at the sparkleberry landing and try my luck with some of those santee shellcrackers. Will let you know how we do if we return. lol. Any tips or advice is always appreciated. We plan on just using old corks and redworms.

It was beautiful and so different than anything I have fished. Closest is probably florida. Put in a small opening and then found our way through flooded timber to a large lake and another large lake just past it. Fished both for a while. Never got over 5 foot deep. Got a late start and since it is a 2.5 hour drive was about 9:30 before we put in. Finished about 1:30 or so. Fish didn’t corporate though. Caught 8 or 10 bream and shellcrackers. One monster. Still a great day and one off the bucket list.

Thanks for the report and good to hear you enjoyed your trip. Catching fish is just a part of a trip and some of my best trips have been on slow biting days.

Sounds like a very nice fishing trip. Some pictures of the landscape woulda been nice too. HA!

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Fishing new water to me is more about exploring than catching.

Pchop let us know how you do. Me and the wife are going down mid-October for a 3 day weekend. She will want to striper fish most of the time, but I may be able to get in a little crappie fishing.
