    Question Keowee question

It's been awhile since I posted here. My wife and I moved from Goose Creek to central Texas for a year. We moved back to SC in July, but upstate this time. I'm a 5 iron shot from Keowee, upper Cane Creek section in West Union. We've had the boat out a few times with our 4 yr old grandson looking for bluegill. I'm looking forward to the coming days of nicer weather so I can get out in the afternoons.

I've noticed the lack of obvious bait stores. Where's a good place to get minnows and crickets?

The bait shops are few, see you found Bountyland. Welcome to the upstate.

Thanks Stump! We love it here. My wife and I are going to give it a shot today on Keowee way up Cane Creek.

It was a beautiful afternoon. We fished from 3pm to 6:30pm and caught a barrel full of little blue gills in 4 FOW. Highlights were a couple 4 lb channel cats on 2lb line and a 3 1/2 lb spot. We had minnows, crickets and meal worms, but the green beetle spin did the best work, especially in the slightly dingy water around the RV park way up Cane Creek.

Those small gills have made many trips with kids an unforgettable trip, congrats on the trip My step-daughter was 4 when her mother and I first started dating and she had never fished. I bought her a small kids rod and reel and decided to go one Sunday to a pond I knew of since at the time I didn't have a boat. Wouldn't you know the pond was drained to just a check so off to Clark's Hill. I stopped at the ramp on Long Cain Creek and we walked down to where the big rock is on the left of the ramp. First throw out she caught her first fish! We spent hours there with her catching those small bream In her 30's now with her own daughter of 2 she stills carries a rod and tackle box in her car. Taking a child fishing can change their lives to the good.
