    Default Wateree Catfish Help?

Was going to take the wife striper fishing last weekend, but the fridge died and spent Saturday waiting on the repairman. Probably going to give it a try this Saturday. Will try stripers first, but if it is as muddy as I suspect it will be, that could be a short try. I have never fished for the blue cats in Wateree. If we give them a try, any general hints on this time of year? Not specific areas, just depths and general areas. We put in at clearwater cove. I usually take a few worms and catch a few perch for cutbait on Tillery. Can you do the same on Wateree? Will have my casting net as well for a few shad, but I usually do just as good with perch on tillery. By the way I usually drift with a santee rig and slinky weights that I make.

I usually do ok if I head North out of Clearwater and run along the hump, use Maynards weigh with the wire and float. Shiners work, cut bait, worms. Good luck

We did ok with the stripers last week using shinners & herring just above clearwater last week. Fished on the western channel edge. Also, caught stripers out from colonel creek on western channel edge. Marked a lot of fish close to the bottom but caught most of our stripers about 12 to 14' down till the sun got bright. Then, they were 24 to 26' down in about 30' of water.

Water was not bad last week. Temp was around 52.
