    Default Black Nose

Got this black nose on Wylie today. My partner Jetjocky got a good one. Great day and zero competition. Guess the wind and cold scared everybody off. Name: IMG_2990.jpg

That's the fifth one one I've heard of on Wylie. CK got one in Crowders a few years ago Long lining. Mr. Monk and Bo Ramey got one on lower Wylie. The others were people talking about Hybrids being caught. LOL I like them, I hope to get one someday. DNR said they weren't put in there, so every x amount of years a gene changes in the black crappie and you get a black nose hatched. They will spawn from what I hear. Glad you could put up with the wind and chill. Had Funeral duty today at 2 pm. Hope to go Thursday. Thanks for the pictures!

I’ve also caught a few white crappie lately. Don’t ever remember catching any in the past or maybe I was too dumb to notice.

No you aren't dumb. They use to be a lot out there 50 years ago. I got a picture around here some where that has white crappie mixed in with black crappies caught on Christmas day 1975 on Wylie. I don't know what happen to them. Maybe over fished or died out for lack of quality water or habitat. I guess the floods have brought some down from up river. We have caught a couple of what looked like herring or something in that species night fishing. Maybe we are in to something good. Thanks for letting us know!

Hartwell's white crappie population is up and down as well. I have caught white crappie on the Seneca run of the lake but it has been years ago but the Savannah lag of the lake holds white crappie. It's interesting how different waters on the same lake can be so different to fish.
