Another five degree drop? What's the target temp?
Good reports, keep it up and stay safe.

Water temp the other day started out at 63 and fluctuated up to 65 by the afternoon. The crappies are just starting to transition off the brush and into open water at this temp. When the water temp gets on down to 59/60, all those fish will be back in the open water and feeding on the schools of shad. That makes for some good longline trolling trips.

Ive always found that when the water temps drop below 50* the fishing starts getting TOUGH!. Now is the time to go get 'em guys. Colder temps coming very soon then warming just a bit should put fish in the nliveells.

Thanks for all the responses . Having another Birthday is alot better than the alternative!

Anyway I moved. In the 2nd spot it didnt look much better. So I decided to make a run down-lake. Finally....seen a few fish on tyhe graph so I dropped lines. Wasnt long before I caught a keeper. Then the dinks showed up. It was slow, catching a fish her and there. Only problem was they were all short fish.

At 11AM(ish) I had caught 22 fish with "2" keeper fish in the well and had kept two little stocky 8"ers for me to eat off the bone. So now my mission was to get 2 or 3 more to eat off the bone and I'd have us a fresh fish meal. Those two to fillet would more than feed my wife. Then I hit a stretch and the better sized fish showed up. And for @ 10-15 minutes it got interesting. Anyway, after a somewhat "flurry" (considering how slow it was all morning long) I called it a day and headed back to the ramp.

I did get a few more short fish to scale (my favorites) and enough fish to call Dad and his wife to come enjoy the fish with us. Here's the mess I finished with today.

Way to hang in there Butch and stick it out. I'm not sure why October and November weren't better for longlining than they were. I've had to fish brush to catch fish since June as longlining has been both slower and with more small fish. Maybe they're turning the corner and December will be awesome. Thanks for the report!
