    Default Not to bad

For a first time ever on Lake Monticello.
Didn't find the perch, but did ok on the cats.
Caught between 50 and 65 feet.
Most was on bottom, some came from around 25 feet down.
    Worms and minnows.
Chased a few birds but never got a strike from the perch.
All in all had a fun day on a new lake. Will be going back to try it again.

Monticello should get better when it get a little colder with the perch bite! Tackleboats is right about fishing near the loons and gulls. When you see the gulls dropping to the water and feeding then the perch are under the bait pushing them to the top. You did good Neil first on your first try. It will only get better the more you go. Somedays are better than others but you have that everywhere you go. You may need to get you a thumping stick to help get the perch active under your boat. LOL I may do like CBNC and get on out there and fish. My bucks are night runners now that everyone has corn out for them. I can wait until they start bunching up again. Thanks for the reports and hope you can go again soon Neil. Good luck!

Nice catch Neil and thanks for sharing. The stripers have migrated back up close to the house and I have the pontoon fixed with a new motor so time to catch some. Going to try them for a little while tomorrow morning.

Thanks Big Dawgg. I had a good time yesterday.
I used my net handle to thump the boat and ran down some birds. But I was using jigs along with Worms and minners.
Hope the weather holds and me and The Mrs. can go back over Thanksgiving.
If not we will probably be on Wylie.

Thanks for the info and pointers Mr. Charles, Mr. Tackleboat, and Mr. Big Dawgg.

Maybe we can meet at whylie or somewhere else and get in a fishing trip or two. My health has gone to hell in a handbag this year. I got both boats ready to fish, got shiners in my tank and will put minners in there tomorrow. I have been wanting to go to lake secession for the last month but just unable to go by myself. To many bad days where I can't trust myself to make the 2 hour drive.

I hate to hear that Don.
Hope things turn around for you and your health and you can get back to fishing more.
We can meet any place you want to. Be happy to fish with you anywhere and any time. As long as I'm off work. Haven't hit the age of retirement yet.
Tell the misses I said Hello to.
Go catch a striper for me.
