Crappie Wall Hanger II
Monticello 11-20-20
Good morning for fishing, fairly calm & the cats were biting. Got 40 herring from jimmy for cut bait. Jimmy opens at 6AM. Put in at the lower landing. Stayed down on the lower end all morning. Tried several places. Caught all our blues in 50 to 60'(anchored) on small pieces of cut bait. About 10, we started catching some small cats on our perch drop shot rigs, again on cut herring.
Most of the cats were small but did have several about 5 lbs each. Lost a couple of good fish.
Ended up with 34 blues.
Saw a lot of birds diving just below the islands as you go out from the landing.
Ran out of bait about 12.

Saw you and rocked you a bit. I was perch jerking. Caught a few close to the 2 islands out from the landing. We did better about mid lake. Caught all the perch and bass in 55-65’ of water. Caught 10 bass and 50 perch.

Those look real good. Looks like I need to go back & give the perch & bass a try. I want to try live shiners & herring on down rods for the bass.

I'll be headed that way in the morning. Going to try this lake for the first time. Hope I catch a few while exploring.

good catches fellers. hopefully ill get over doctors visits and get to go again soon.
i feel like i really need a good fishin trip.
ps went by my place at lake wateree and it kinda looks like tomato soup. crossed river on hwy 1 and
it was high and muddy also took long way home and crossed Catawba river on hwy 5 it was just as high and muddy as wateree was. didn't see much as far as people fishin only saw 2 boats while I was there

We have not had much luck using perch at monticello. Shad & herring always work better for us.
