Being as today was my first of 3 days off I wanted to fish again this afternoon after yesterday's catch. So....I got there an hour earlier than yesterday(@ 4:15PM)and during that hour I caught 1 small catfish on a jig. THAT WAS IT!! Hmm....so during the next hour I finally pick up I think 4 crappies. Man! How the lake can change from one afternoon to the next! Well, with nothing else to do I kept at it and around 5:45 it began picking up. I should mention here that the whole time I was trolling I was marking fish and bait....all on the bottom or very near it. I believe the bait finally moved a bit higher in the water column and the fish started feeding some. Anyway, wound up with a good hour of fishing and quit @ 6:45PM to get all rods rolled back up, boat on the trailer, and back at home by dark. Water temp was 1* warmer than yesterday at 76.5*, no winds, water still clear, and all trolling was done at 16' to 20' of water pulling deep.
Wound up catching a total of 25 crappies and that one little catfish. Here's the mess of fish I brought home today (18 crappies). Plans are to share the fillets from both days with the people that lets me hunt their lands. Of course....that's after getting me a mess out of those fillets.

Yes great time to be on the water. It is nice to tough it out and get it figured it out. Sometimes it can be a little change to a detail can make the difference. Thanks for the report.

Butch,
Good job! Glad to see the Russell crappie are back at it! It's been all about the brush on the Hill since June for me, and my first couple of long lining attempts the last couple of trips tp the Hill haven't been that productive. I'm expecting that to change with the temperature drop this weekend.
