    Default Replacing Carpet

Hey guys. I'm looking for somebody to replace my carpet with Vinyl in my boat. Anybody had this done? Who do you recommend? What did it cost you? Thanks ahead of time.

I replaced the carpet on the pontoon, a real pain in the butt. Getting the glue off the floor (wood)was near impossible. I ground it with a wire brush. With vinyl it will need to be perfectly smooth or you'll have bumps under it and they will tear. Maybe it's time for a new boat.
    Just my 2 cents

Aint no way I'm getting rid of my Ranger Fisherman just because the carpet is getting bad. HA! I'll figure out something.

Butch I replaced the carpet in my tracker that I sold and also on my pontoon. It is a job but not that hard. Getting the old glue off is the biggest problem. Some vinyl shops also replace carpet. There are a couple places around Columbia that do it and it is quite expensive guessing right around 2 grand. You would have to leave the boat.

Wow! That is quite expensive! I may wind up just replacing the carpet. Another thought might be checking into some kind of resin paint with grit in it to put on the floor of the boar.

Just a question? Could you replace the wood flooring easily and then put vinyl down on new wood? I had weak spots in my flooring and it was best to replace the flooring and then lay the vinyl. Took some time but worked out good on my old Alumnacraft. Tip #1 Only thing I don't like with vinyl is the condensation or rain water, I could bust a butt easy with wrong step. LOL Good luck fixing up your ride!

Ain’t no wood in a ranger

Problem with vinyl Is if you fish went it’s real cold it will form a layer of ice, can be quite dangerous, I’d go back with carpet ityll look nicer be quieter and retain the boats value, you can buy pre cut carpet kits from ranger
Thanks BigDawgg thanked you for this post

    Butch,
when I replaced the carpet in my Mirrocraft I used :

    Tuff Coat Rubberized Non-Skid Coating

I got from Cabelas , but it can be bought from other places too !!! it was the best deck coating I ever seen its rubberized and it does not get too hot for bare feet !!! and it does not get slick when wet or frost is on it !!! it has some kind of grit in it !!!!

Joe, something like that interests me. I got a year or so to make up my mind though.

I did it on my G7.
    Its dirty work.
Then i epoxyed fiberglass over the plywood.
It was getting weak in places.
Then I put Tuff Coat on it.
    Never carpet again

    Highly recommended
