    Default Boat Motor Help Needed

    Hey y'all,
I am trying to locate the neutral safety switch on mt 1992 60HP Johnson. The motor will not do anything when I turn the key. No click, no nosie, no nothing! I did just jump the starter and solenoid to make it turn over and it did. I believe my safety neutral switch might be the problem. However, I can't figure out where it os located.
Can anyone help me? Thank you so much for your time!

    John

Yes sir, I did that on two different websites. I can't find the part on a diagram but I can find it separately to purchase. I have never seen anything so hard to locate. Maybe I'm trying to hard. Thanks for the information. I will keep trying.

Thanks! I guess I need someone that understands this electrical boat stuff better than I do because I don't really know much about it. I know the motor will not do anything when I try to crank it. No clicks, no hesitation, no nothing...dead silent! The battery is fully charged and has 13 volts at the starter. I jump the starter across the solenoid and it fired no problem. I just bumped it to see if it would try to crank and it turned over no problem. I stopped there thinking my issue is a safety switch. Boat ran great at Lake Wylie Thursday got out on the water and got to my first spot, fished, and when I went to move to a new spot...nothing motor wouldn't do nothing. Well that's how I got where I am now. Does sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone have any thoughts?

My first question is do you have a kill switch located in the control housing with a lanyard attached. If so that’s where I would start checking.

Yes sir, I took the shifter loose and looked to see if I could find a neutral safety switch there but found nothing. The kill switch is there, of course, but if I remember correctly this wouldn't keep it from turning over. It would simply not fire, right? My problem is the boat went from running great with no issues to motor will not do anything when I turn the key. All electronics, bulge pump, aerator, trolling motor everything works as it should. Even the little bell chirp sound goes off when you switch the key but as far as the motor...nothing.

If you have a Johnson/Evinrude remote control, the neutral safety should be in that control box. Part #F in this pic:

As pic shows, in the shift lever box. I frequently have to move mine in/out gear to clear safety switch when starting.
