Default A New Partner, Birthday Trip, and Father's Day Trip

The fun never ends in my family! The last month has been as busy as ever as we've celebrated the birth of our first son, several birthdays, and Father's Day. I'm proud to announce that Weston Derek Frick was born on 5/27/20 and tipped the scales at 8lb 14oz....our PB in the weight department. I'm excited to teach him the ways of the woods and water, but I believe he's going to have to fight his sisters for a seat in the boat and deer stand! I may need to start looking into a bigger boat!

I celebrated my 32nd birthday last week and I was able to take a solo trip to the lake in search of a few crappie. It was windy and unseasonably cool, but the fish didn't seem to mind. The wind made fishing a chore, but I managed to boat around 30 crappie and culled out a nice limit well before lunch. I was greeted at home by my daughters and they were eager to help me get fish out of the livewell and even posed for a picture of them! Fish were mostly caught on brush in 20 FOW fishing 12-14 foot deep, but I did catch a few shooting deep water docks.

Sunday morning I woke my daughters before "wake up time," as they say. We embarked on a Father's Day trip shortly after 6 AM. We made a stop by the bait shop for minnows, drinks, and plenty of snacks. Can't forget the snacks with a 2.5 and 4.5 year old!! We made it on the water and to our first stop a little after 7 AM and were greeted with a beautiful morning. The fishing was slow but consistent and my crew caught so many they were tired of reeling them in. They had the best time, but I think I enjoyed the trip more than anyone. There's nothing like the smile on a child's face when they have a fish on the line. Fish were once again caught on brush with a few dock fish to supplement. Here's a few more pictures from the trip. Take a look at the smile/expression on my youngest's face as we headed to our first stop! That's what it's all about!!!!

Wow what a great report and thanks for sharing. Congrats on the new member of the family. Seeing those two girls in the boat brings back sweet memories. Man enjoy the precious memories you have. My girls are 40 and they still talk about those times I took them fishing when they were little. Thanks again for this great post and sharing your family memories.

Congratulations on the PB. Pictures are wonderful, thank you. You are going to have to get a box stand for everyone to sit in. Yep! A bigger boat for sure.

Great Report, wouldn’t it be great if they didn’t have to be teenagers?? Enjoy every minute you can. Looks like you are a GREAT father.
