    Default Dry run to Monty

Tom and I went to Monticello around 7 this morning. Wind was relentless all morning and made fishing difficult.
Tom doesn't have spot lock so staying on fish was nearly impossible. I had 1 keeper perch and several throwbacks as did Tom.
We saw Comalander headed up the lake about 9 and never saw him again but he posted a 9# LM on FB today. Don't know if that was from today but I'm sure he filled the boat up. Truly amazing to me. We came out at noon.
Wasn't much in the fish dept but good to at least be on the water.

Glad you felt like getting on the water Ray. That wind gusts to 20 mph here so I KNOW it had to be tough on the lakes. I was stuck at work so I know you guys were having a better day than I was.

I would fish the 35' humps between bomb isle and wessinger's isle. Those have been good in past but I have not been down there in months.
I'm sure there are good spots closer to you.

SeaRay, I saw the bass Steve caught today on his video. He was wearing the perch out. It don't add up that you'll didn't find the perch. The bass I saw today spit out a jumbo perch and Steve netted it also after netting his bass. I think Remus and I are going to go down there soon and see what we can do. Worms and minnows should get us something. Glad you got out of the house and hate the wind was rough on you. Did you fish the humps in 25 to 30 foot where we hit them a few years ago at the islands?

Our problem was staying on the fish. Several times I knew I was over fish because of several quick hits but by the time we landed a fish we had lost the school. Spot lock is almost essential in those conditions.
But yes the 25-40 humps seem to always hold fish. Tom got a triple over one. Two perch and a LM. (Not as big as Steve's. LOL)

PS give me a few days notice and I'll try to join you at Monticello.

How do you guys fish for perch other than using a spoon. I got a couple teenagers that I would like to put on some good perch. I have not fished for perch in 20 years. Ray if you want to try the perch give me a call.

Tom has mastered the 3 jig rig and often gets doubles. He had a triple Friday including a LM. I'm just used to the spoon but need to learn to fish the 3 rig like Tom and Comalander.
