I guess I'll be learning on the water. Those power cords run @ $30 so I held off for now. I can always unplu g the 'ducer and play with it in my boat shed. I figure I'll play with it on the water (10 minutes from the house) and when I cant figure something out then u-tube can help me. Old man with new electronics means SLOW, SLOW, SLOW learning curve....atleast I think so for me anyway. Time will tell. Atleast for now I wont be totally lost. I still have my trusty little 5" finder (that I totally believe in) on the console beside the new one.

I probably will eventually. For now thought I'll use it for 2D.

Really! We have seen the pictures. If I could catch fish like he does I wouldn't worry about electronics. It might actually slow him down for a while as he plays with the new fishfinder instead of actually fishing.

Congrats on the new fishfinder!! I have the 10 and 7 on the bow. I love them. (Especially for mapping)
Just something you may want to know. The larger Helix units are finicky about the power supply. I had issues and spent hours on the phone with humminbird. The fix was 10ga supply wired directly from the battery to an independent fuse panel with the units wired to the new fuse panel. Haven’t had a minutes trouble since.

Well, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shoulda got me one of these graphs along time ago. I went to the lake today @ 4:30PM and had full intentions of playing with the new graph trying to learn something. Instead, after about an hour I HAD to fish. The new graph was even showing some fish that my old little tried, true, and trusted graph wasn't showing. Pulling jigs along the bottom was the trick to get the bites. Fished for @ 2 hours putting 28 crappie over the sides. No intention of cleaning fish tonight with my freezer already full of enough fillets for me and the Mrs until next Jan so it was a lot of fun just catching and releasing, even those over a lb apiece. With cooler temps the first of next week for a few days I wanna get back on the water and do more exploring with the new graph. There are still some settings I don't know how to change. ALOT of learning to be done with this graph. Thank God for U-tube!

Fish are doomed for sure. Great results on the first run.
