    I'll never forget an editorial cartoon I saw years ago. In the back ground was a family playing on the seashore with a beachball and in the foreground was a rifle stuck into the sand with a US helmet on it. The caption read, "The next time you enjoy a day at the seashore, remember those who never got past the beaches". Powerful statement. We should all pause and pray for those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy every day.

    Trivia for you. We were in Harlingen Texas (RVing) when we came across this memorial at a birding center.
    Threw me and my WWll buddy a loop until we read the plaque. This was the model used to create the real one. Life size, flag and all. Impressive anywhere you see it.
