Default Need suggestions for a trolling motor on my stratos 176xt

Dad said he’s been using trolling motor and battery is brand new but motor on high does not stay on as long as it used to. Needing a new motor would like foot pedal one but not adverse to the fancy ones if not too expensive. Any thoughts inputs as to brands or thrust on 17 and a half foot boat

My 17' walleye boat has a 70 lb thrust 24v. motor. I wouldn't want anything with less power for longlining. Did you check out the tm that Is currently listed in the SC classifieds?

I knew you bought another boat but the Ranger Fisherman walleye boat you had was perfect I thought. Didn't realize you got rid of it. It would not clear my gate or I would have bought one after fishing in yours. ( my gate posts are 3 ft square brick with wrought iron gates so don't ask! )

I think the one that’s on there is 40lb thrust and original minn Kota that came with boat in 2006. Lately don’t seem to do a whole lot of trolling is just mainly used to get away from banks and such when getting to close. My parents usually like to setup over a brush pile or whatever in open water and drift. Then when they get out of area troll back to where they started or where they pick up bites. When I get in boat I use the trolling motor to cruise banks and shoot docks either for bass bream and especially crappie.

Ray, I'm still fishing out of that Fisherman 681. I'm not sure that I ever will get rid of that boat. Only thing I dislike about it is is that carbureted gas guzzling motor.

Put you a Tohatsu on it abound fear no more. I'm on my 2nd after going to larger boat. Thousands less than competition, but so far been flawless.
Glad you still have it great biat.
