Default What’s the biggest fish you caught while crappie fishing?

My dad has a place on lake greenwood and while I was talking to him I heard his reel screaming. He was out crappie fishing with my mom not far from moon landing. Anyways I told him I’d call him back and fight the fish. He sent me pic and said it was about 10 or so pound catfish with his ultralight rod reel spooled with 6lb rest. What’s biggest fish everyone else has caught with their crappie setup?

I hooked into a flathead last year. Was using 15 pound line spider rigging. Not sure how big he was put as soon as he broke the waters surface he had enough. Snapped the line like we haven’t even just fought each other for the last 15 minutes

15# striper on crappie jig and 6# line. Spooled me twice. Just didn't take that last run to break me off.

Hooked big stripers and those nasty big slimers for them to break my line, straighten out my hook or spool me. Some how they won't touch appropriate sized tackle and gear. I only landed a few (only when fishing from boat or I bring a drop net to the bridge). Did catch a giant bream at Lake Oliphant other day on a drop shot crappie bait. Made my day.

Since all I do is Crappie fish, all my personal best were caught that way. Cats over 30, bass over 9, striper in the teens, shell cracker over 2, crappie over 3, monster gar and carp in the 20 pound range.

Well it’s my crappie pole and was goby and perch fishing in Lake Erie with my uncle while visiting and caught probably 15 20 pound sheep head on 4lb test. It’s basically like a giant carp if no one seen one before.

I use to hook every gar in Clack Hill lake while crappie fishing. Not sure how big the biggest was but it was huge. Cats and stripers some big ones but one of the fun est was a hybrid on Hartwell on a 12' rod with 6 lb line. I posted a video of it back when I caught it. I didn't have time to lay down the camera so the video would make you dizzy watching it LOL.
