You are right about the pure joy of just getting to go fishing. Not taking it for granted this year like maybe in years past. I've noticed that the numbers seem up and the average size down (more like May fishing), but there are enough slabs in the mix to make for a lot of fun. And when a man needs a fish dinner, a small fillet beats the heck out of no fillet at all!

William, for some reason this year Ive been keeping me about 4 crappie a week that ranges in the 9" range to eat off the bone. With proper seasoning I think theyre maybe TWICE as good as fillets. 'Course theyre more work cleaning them too.
