Default First trip since Jan 6

Harry asked me out on his boat today so went after perch and Stripers on Murray. Had it been summertime we would have been done in an hour. Found a bunch of hungry stripers on 25' hump and action was fast and furious. None were big enough to bring home, averaging 12-16" .
We lost count but easily 35-40 fish. All Stripers, not the first perch or catfish. I fished entirely with my secret modified Berry's spoon.
Harry had minnows and herring but he caught as many on jigs as live bait.
I've been pretty much stuck in a recliner since January so I'm as sore now as I was after boot camp.
Good to get out on the water after being housebound for so long.
Harry's boat is in a slip so we didn't have an issue with launching. But, we only saw two boats all morning. I'm sure the weather played a role along with ramp closures.

Nice job! Glad you could get out. I hope the closures relieve the heavy traffic on the lake from last weekend.

Well I had an ulteria motive to this trip. My wife has been very cautious regarding my health. Harry is a long time family friend. Actually know him over 50 years. He has a big center console that he keeps in the water at Southshore Marina.
My thinking was that Andrea would be quicker to agree with me going out with him than taking my boat or Tom's boat to Monticello. But once she saw I did OK she'd be more willing to let Tom and I take my boat out.
Well, guess what. Everyone in the boat has to live in same household. Harry and I didn't get checked but we could have been.
Another buddy that we fish with was by himself when he saw DNR check a boat near him with 3 guys in it. They never checked Steve so after DNR left Steve asked the guys what they checked.
Driver's license!!! Everyone in the boat must live in same household. They got a warning and were packing up to leave.I

So my plan just went up to in smoke because I cant go by myself. Just not strong enough to trust going alone.

I'm still really sore from standing for 4 hours jigging a spoon. Wind was blowing too so fighting the waves didn't help.
