    Default Fished the Hill Sunday

Took my first trip down to the Hill for the year on Sunday. Fished several mid lake creeks on the SC side mid lake. Caught 16 crappie and 2 bass. Pulled 1/16 minnow head jigs on 6lb test at .8mph. All the crappie were small this time. I knew some slabs were being caught recently, but i didnt get into them this trip. All of my fish were from mid creek and up in 20-30'. Most of them came on junebug/chartreuse sliders. Did get several on a roadrunner head with same color body. Beautiful day and it was nice to catch a few. Threw most of them back. Only kept the ones over 9" this trip. Probably try it again this saturday. Couple of the creeks got very crowded with inconsiderate fisherman. I know it happens in the spring though. Water is still high, stained and 53 degress.

With all the water pouring into the lakes that's a good catch. There's many that are having hard times catching any crappie or just a few a trip. Thanks for the report.

2 bites and no fish from Thursday-Friday. Saturday was a whole different deal. Got on the fish in Dordon Creek (big fish and average...no smalls) and was able to get a limit. Sunday fished about four hours and took ten more good fish to the house.

Fished there as well. That Thursday. Rained like a bitch and cold as I’ve been in a long time. Two bites, no fish. Buddy of mine caught a couple.

i never got that far down. How deep were your fish over the weekend? Out in the deeper channel?

Caught some big hens in about 17 feet of water. Caught some average bucks in deeper water (22-28 feet). They were suspended about 10-12 feet deep. I trolled with 1/16 oz jig and caught all but 2 or three on green/black or blue/silver.

Fished the heavy wind Saturday. Got 16 again and kept 8 over 10”. Couple of bass and striper mixed in too. Fished in 30-35’ time. Bite was fast and furious early but slowed when the wind started hammering. I heard yesterday was phenomenal down there. It’s still pretty muddy though. Black and chartreuse curly tail 1/16 this time.
